Week 13 and that’s a quarter of the year done. And for those who celebrate, a blessed Good Friday and Easter to come! Easter is often a time of peace and renewal for those who celebrate.

Let me caveat this week’s post by saying that this week’s newsletter is going to be relatively short, and more of a sharing than recommendations, introductions, or a short essay.

I’ve said this quite a few times on my socials, forum posts, or in private messages thus far - This year feels like a year of taking back.

Taking back my time.

Taking back my autonomy.

Taking back my health.

Taking back my purpose.

Taking back my life.

I did not start 2021 with a good frame of mind - I was burnt out, exhausted, and for lack of a better term, feeling rather hopeless. Over the last three months, however, I made the decision to get some foundational work done internally instead of chionging over my pending creative work.

While I will not say that I am completely renewed and refreshed, I have to admit that entering a mindset Mastermind and going into journaling and mindset work gave me a lot more anchor points to look forward to, as compared to if I had to go through a very misaligned day job based on sheer willpower.

And if anything, I’ve learnt a new way of goal-setting - instead of focussing on the tactical aspects of what you want to achieve (e.g. individual items, to-dos, projects etc…), think deeply about your core desires and emotions you want to feel as you go through with the year. This way, these core desires will fuel your decisions and reduce the pressure of “having to achieve” individual items or tick boxes.

Mine ended up being Focus, Empowerment, and Vitality.

And the best part of these core desires? There’s always a freedom to change them over time, as long as you are able to make peace with it.

So with the new financial year / quarter coming, with a substantial amount of work cleared, I’ll be diving deeper into mindset training, taking some time off for a few days, and recalibrating.

What I am grateful for though, is that this act of taking back does align with my current year’s core desires of having more focus, empowerment, and vitality. Focus with what I’m doing with the JewelVerse, empowerment in gaining the freedom to live life how I desire, and vitality to see things through well.
